A page of footnotes for when reporting gets complicated.
The construction work at Boca Chica and the photojournalism around it is often straightforward. A part is seen with a label, it moves around a bit, then is integrated into a vehicle or tank. But sometimes things happen that require a bit of explaining. Infographic artists will often need to gloss over this, but here we can dive into all the ambiguity, the gaps in coverage, the conflicting labels, the reporting errors and the mysterious parts. The aim here is to be aware as possible of what we know and what we don’t, so that artists can make informed decisions.
SN17 common dome section CX:3 stacking date
SN17 common dome CD was seen on the sleeving stand by Mary on 22 Jan 🔗 and was still there on 23 Jan 🔗. The next clue is a consistent freshly-sleeved dome section seen on 25 Jan 🔗, and on 26 Jan the sleeving stand is seen to be empty 🔗.
SN17 thrust section and SN18 leg skirt mated
SN17's thrust dome section (identified by marks) was mated to SN18's aft section (identified by label) on 16 March, noted by Haur 🔗 and StarshipSN17. Mary photographed the stack and implied it was for SN18 🔗, but the earliest available vehicle is SN17.
SN18 common dome used for SN20 common section
SN18's common dome was spotted by Mary in the dome yard on 25 Feb and was traceable through RGV aerial imagery through to the 8 Apr flyover where it has a new hole for the LOX downcomer. When SN20's common dome section was created on 15 Apr 🔗, Nomadd's picture 🔗 and RGV's flyover the next day showed SN18's common dome was gone.
Methane headers with SN19 and SN20 labels
A methane header tank was seen in the dome yard 12 Feb, later shots showing SN19 written on it twice. The next methane header tank to appear had a paper label SN19 but when turned around it has SN19 in marker rubbed out and SN20 in marker. So I'm counting these for SN19 and SN20, respectively.
